Combining avant-garde Pininfarina styling with outstanding V-12 performance, Ferrari's 330 GT 2+2 debuted in 1963. While following in the footsteps of the prior 250 GTE 2+2, the 330 GT 2+2 upped the ante on performance and set new standards for comfortable, high-speed motoring pleasure for up to four occupants. While clearly an elegant and sophisticated Ferrari road car, the taut Pininfarina-styled 330 GT 2+2 maintained a sporty air to match its rich Ferrari heritage. Its Tipo 209 Colombo-derived V-12 engine, enlarged to 4.0 liters, provided heady top-speed potential of more than 150 mph. Said to be one of Enzo Ferrari's favorite models of the era, just over a thousand 330 GT 2+2s were built along two distinct series between 1964 and 1967.

This highly desirable 'Series II' 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe is particularly rare as one of just 455 “two headlamp, 5-speed” examples. According to Marcel Massini's history report, 9183 was completed in October 1966 as a left-hand drive, European specification example, equipped with power windows and finished in a dashing livery of Argento Metallizzato paint over Nero Franzi leather upholstery. That November, the 330 was delivered new to official dealer Garage Imperia SA of Martigny, Switzerland – where it was sold to first owner Fabrice Antoine Levrat in nearby Sion, Switzerland. In March 1968, engine 9183 would receive a refurbishment of its cylinder heads by the factory in Modena, as noted on factory order number 91. During the mid-1970's the car was exported from Switzerland to the United States – where it would reside for the decades to follow. Shortly after, 9183 would be wearing Red paintwork over black upholstery. Mr. Jones of Englewood, Colorado acquired the Ferrari on June 23, 1987 through The Auto Show Inc. specialty dealer.

Shortly after the acquisition of this car, the current owner set out on a reasonably thorough servicing and light sympathetic restoration to bring the 330 up to standards, both mechanically and cosmetically. The mechanical work was completed and heavily documented by Mikes Performance Headquarters of Englewood, Colorado. A substantial investment at the time. The upholstery work commissioned in early 1988 addressed recovering of the front seats and center console, preservation of the rear and new carpeting among other details - completed by T's Sunrise of Englewood, Colorado. In Spring 1993-1994, engine 0183 would receive and complete disassembly and meticulous rebuild – as heavily documented by invoices and photographs.

A consistent chain of thorough servicing history would follow throughout the 1990s and 2000s showing the car was driven as intended and fastidiously maintained. These receipts are also available in the Ferrari's dossier. A notable early 2016 major service included a complete rebuild of the transmission, along with a thorough sorting to the braking system, updated cooling fans, and a fluid flush - a $12,000 investment. In Spring 2020, 9183 received an inspection, scheduled service and tune-up. Highlights include period correct and all- new 205VR15 Pirelli CN72 tires (x5) to Campagnola magnesium wheels, alignment, restored wiper motor, and ignition components.

9183 presents today as the ideal driver's 330 GT 2+2 - A strong performing example and well capable of a multitude of local events and distance vintage rallies. Its robust engine reads compression numbers: 140, 145, 150, 145, 140, 145, 145, 150, 145, 145, 140, 140 psi. and operates effortlessly in full stride or quick sprints. The bright paint displays glossy, with a few notable imperfections and touch-ups visible upon close inspection – as it retains the paintwork applied in decades past. Portions of original Metallic Silver paint can be seen is areas such the door undersides. The cabin has remained well preserved from the 1980's partial freshening, with all lights, instruments and safety equipment in proper working order, with exception to the clock. A period Becker Europa radio complements nicely and the emergency window winder resides in the glove compartment. #72 body stampings, matching this vehicle's 972 Pininfarina assembly number are found on both inner door jamb covers.

Both front and rear bays are very tidy and generally correct in fit and finish. The luggage compartment contains a matching spare assembly, jack, and reproduction tool roll. A history binder documents Mr. Jones' purchase in 1987 to nearly all servicing records accrued thereafter, as well as 1980's and 90's photographs. Included with the sale are the 2+2's Colorado collector car plates, plate mounts, vintage reproduction Workshop Manual, an original early Operating, Maintenance and Service handbook, and original cooling fans.
