The fixed-roof MGB GT was introduced in October 1965. Production continued until 1980, although export to the US ceased in 1974. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking greenhouse designed by Pininfarina and launched the sporty "hatchback" style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the B GT offered the utility of a station wagon while retaining the style and shape of a coupe. This new configuration was a 2+2 design with transformable rear bench seat and far more luggage space than in the roadster. Relatively few components differed, although the MGB GT did receive different suspension springs and anti-roll bars and a different windscreen. In 2019, Road & Track named the GT one of the "16 of Pininfarina's Most Beautiful Designs That Aren't Ferraris."

GHD5UC277683G was completed in March of 1972 in Aqua (Turquoise) over Navy Blue and Black upholstery, as introduced in the 1972 model year. A long time Texas car, the MG comes from limited known ownership, with significant records and documentation on file dating from 1992-Present. The GT comes ideally equipped in both livery and configuration with air conditioning and wire wheels.

Almost 30 years of invoices confirm the car has been thoughtfully well cared for, serviced and preserved. The MG received and exterior repaint and rechroming of its brightwork in May 1992, while the factory original paintwork is displayed in the door jambs, front and rear compartments. Regular services track consistently throughout the years. The car moved to Houston from Dallas in 2000, where it has since resided – only changing hands in 2012 to join a highly regarded Texas collection. While largely stock in configuration, a few mechanical upgrades have been installed to assure modern drivability in Southern climates. This includes an aluminum performance radiator and thermostat, new water pump, dual automatic electric fans (pusher and puller), Weber DGV down-draft carburetor conversion, uprated Bosch alternator and ignition components. The GT performs as expected, with cold air conditioning and a recent Spring 2020 inspection and scheduled service for continued driven enjoyment. The current mileage of just under 61,000 is believed to be original.

The GT's cabin appears nicely preserved with correct and original appointments. A more modern radio and speakers were fitted in years past. The driver's door and jamb display original plaque and decal, as well as original glass throughout the vehicle. The rear seat can be folded down for extra cargo space, while the rear deck opens up to reveal a matching spare wire wheel and Hessian cloth / jute bag containing the jack, spanner and lead hammer. The engine bay is tidy as well with all original plaques + decals and original smog/emissions equipment. As reflected above, the underside displays an immaculately solid undercarriage – the finest preserved and corrosion-free MG underside we have ever seen. All spot welds along the nose, side sills and rear remain untouched, with original undercoating on the chassis. Upon closer inspection it appears every nook, cranny, even the battery boxes are solid as can be.
