1S20020 was completed April 1,1971 as the 20th lefthand drive V-12 produced, wearing Light Blue paint over Dark Blue Upholstery and Top. The Open Two Seater was dispatched on the 15th of July, distributed through British Leyland Motors, New York, as verified by Jaguar Heritage Trust. In addition to its striking original livery, this particular E-Type comes ideally equipped with air conditioning, radio, leather seating, and manual transmission.

The Roadster was acquired by its most recent caretakers and avid JCNA Club members and judge on February 7th, 1989 in Enid, Oklahoma from an Air Force pilot stationed at Vance AFB - with about 41,000 miles on the odometer. At this time, the Jaguar wore “Royal Blue” paint and a white Naugahyde soft top with matching upholstery - as commissioned by the pilot. Period photos of the vehicle during this time are included. It relocated with its new family to Houston, Texas and retitled on September 18, 1989 – which it retains today.
As active members of the Jaguar Club of Houston, “Ole' Blue” competed in many concours events in the early 1990's throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Exhibited in “Driven” class, the E-Type would rank nationally in class D4 in 1993, as well as subsequent awards, such as the Jaguar Club of Houston's “Best in Class” (2008) and “Silver” at Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance (2015).

Driven on occasion and said to have always been a solid driver with tons of pep and routine services, notable recent work includes a rebuilt front suspension, brake lines, shocks and torsion bars (2012), correct all new leather upholstery, carpeting, surrounds and vinyl top (2015), rebuilt rear end, brakes, hydraulics and A/C system (2015). Additional work carried out by The Tinman Works of Crosby, Texas in 2016 included replacement of the exhaust manifolds, electric fan motors, as well as a radiator flush – along with subsequent fluid changes in the years after.

With just 48,970 recorded miles on the odometer, The Roadster was mechanically assessed before receiving an extensive detail to its current presentation as the ideal “driver's” XKE. A vehicle inspection report is available upon request. Engine compression reads: 130, 130, 140, 130, 130, 135, 135, 145, 135, 140, 145, 145 psi.

This particular Series III remains thoughtfully kept overall. Upon close inspection, you will find original etched glass (with period correct Triplex and 1971 Texas Safety Inspections decals), original trim and brightwork, lenses, body spot welds, adhered engine bay decals/tags and plaques, accompanying original clips/clamps/retainers. The exterior's glossy paint, applied in years past, displays a textured blemishes throughout likely do to long term car cover storage (pictured). A thorough paint correction could benefit the appearance. Chrome wire wheels are mounted with Bridgestone whitewall tires.

The cabin's upholstery presents well, while the dashboard and console appear largely original and unrestored. Its interior comes equipped with period Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, factory air conditioning, manual transmission and fitted Amco shift knob. Supplemental Lloyds Mats protect the underlying floor mats. The heater condenser core has been removed, overhauled and is included in the sale. A convertible top boot cover and full-cab tonneau neatly cover the soft top assembly when stowed for open motoring.

The luggage compartment is tidy with matching spare wheel, car cover, brass hammer and spanner. The SIII's undercarriage remains quite solid and intact, with excellent floors displaying original drain holes, seams, and finishes.

The Roadster is accompanied by numerous items, including: spare parts, “Operating, Maintenance and Service” handbook, new wiring diagram wall chart, new maintenance wall chart, original May, 1971 “Car & Driver” magazine with SIII V12 #1 on the cover, original May, 1971 “Road & Track” magazine with #1 on the cover, several comparative photos of #1S20001 (this vehicle's previous owner knew the owner of #1 – which happened to reside in Austin, Texas), original British April, 1971 “Motor Sport” magazine with the V-12 engine on the cover, original May, 1971 “Road Test” magazine with the “Fabulous V-12” on the cover, new original 1971 “Repair Operation Manual”, the 1971 sales brochure “Jaguar Unlocks The Ultimate Cat”, two additional sets of keys, partial service records, trophies, and a copy of its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
